Hi, I currently have a Large female ACF and tomorrow she's being joined with a male a bit smaller than her in a 15 gallon tank. If they were to breed would a 15 be big enough? Currently the tank substrate is bare, would they need things to lay the eggs on? Please let me know
Hello there...I have used a 15g to breed in the past, and it was ok...also, as long as there are some natural/artificial plants/decor in there, u should be fine) If u plan to raise some tadpoles, u will want an airstone set on a low flow. What kind of acfs are these (pigmented or albino, etc). Good luck with the breeding!! ACF breeding & raising tadpoles is quite rewarding & fun.
k, good to know thanks! And all of my frogs are albino. Can I get an airstone at the fish store? how much do they usually cost?
Thanks
My frogs also bred in a 15 gallon, and I didn't even intend to breed them, so that should be fine. I agree with TommyBoi. If you're planning to remove the frogs from the 15 gal tank and raise the tadpoles in there then it's probably best to keep the tank as it is (bare bottom) too. This will make it easier to keep the tank clean.
Most fish stores will sell airstones. I'm in England so it might be different where you live, but I got an air pump for about £10 (approx $15, I think) and a spare airstone for 50p (I think that's less than a dollar). They're really not very expensive. Good luck![]()
