    Default tree-frog updates

Hi all, I've been off the forum for a while, but wanted everyone (who has followed my story) to know that my baby white's is still sick .
It's now been about 4 weeks of treatment with metro and panacur, and we still have slimy stool. We are going to continue with the panacur and give the metro a rest for now. I have tirelessly worked hard every evening disinfecting enclosures, and thankfully my two adult frogs are healthy after treatment, but the baby is still sick....
I have hope that she'll make it though (she is such a good eater, and still active) despite the huge parasitic infection. The protazoan infection seems to have been properly ridded.

Thanks for letting us know. Has the vet considered a different parasitic treatment other than panacur?

Glad to hear from you, though I wish she was over the infection. I'm glad she is still eating for you.

It definitely takes some time for them to get through these harder times. Did he test for other bacteria in the stool samples?

I don't know what he tested for exactly? I assume a basic float test for parasites?
    I'll check with him tomorrow...
After 2 more weeks of panacur, we're testing again.

Yes, thank goodness she's eating , that definitely makes it easier...
I think that after 2 more weeks, and we test again, if there is still something present, we will go with other meds.

It took me about 6 weeks to heal my babies up, with each of my different rescues. Some I rescued in groups.

Yes, still eating, growing, shedding, active. One would not know she was sick. The only symptom is the slimy poo; She has never given me a solid BM.
I expect that after 6 weeks of treatment, we should be clear (that's 2 more weeks), I hope.
She was getting daily treatments of metro for 14 days, now is only on panacur. Vet prescribed dusting her food once weekly for 4 weeks, but we're continuing for 2 more as there is still pin and hook worms present in her fecals....
Gail, I read your recent fecal problem post.... So you've been advised to treat with panacur for 3 days in a row? Curious why we were advised different plans. And I was also unaware of the 8 fecal test deal before an animal is considered clear. Wonder if I should test my adults again?

If the adults are acting healthy and their fecal is good I wouldn't worry about it. Like the Vet said, amphibians & reptiles tend to carry a few parasites anyway. I look at it this way, eat some dirty once in awhile to help keep up your immune system. If you stay in a sterile environment all the time, how can your system build up immunity to anything.
