    Default Bloated frogs ...

After the change to coco-fiber from foam for most of my pacman frogs, in checking on them a little while ago all -- except the smallest/youngest three -- seem to be bloated some. They are all a bit puffy.

Why would this happen? Stress from the change? Should I give it a few days before I worry about it?

I use Repti-Safe treated water for expanding the substrate as I usually do.

I'll take a couple of pictures and post them soon.

I am not sure myself. Hopefully someone with more experience with pacmans will see this, and may be able to give their opinion.

It could be stress, but pictures would help us identify the problem.

Keep a very close eye on the frogs. If any of them start acting strange, move them to a hospital tank, which should be bare except for a water dish with water no higher than the frog's neck and moist paper towels for substrate.

I think I may be just being paranoid ... but here's a picture of one of the frogs ... pic on left is last night after substrate change (from foam); pic on right was taken a few minutes ago. He IS bloated a bit, but does it look like it got worse from last night?

They're fine. They will puff up during the day to absorb more moisture from the substrate and assist in cooling down. How warm are you keeping them?

Give them a warm soak and they will most likely pee and return to normal. They don't do this on foam substrate.

I thought I was being paranoid ... thanks for the reassurance they are fine. Their temp on the warm side is right at 80 degrees, and that is where most of them are (on the warm side).

Whenever Trevor is looking puffy enough for me to get paranoid I just sit her in her water dish. She usually just pees, goes back to normal size, and glares at me for a few minutes.

i think it is totally normal for us to be paranoid sometimes lol
Save one animal and it doesn't change the world, but it surely changes the world for that one animal!
