When I mist my tank, I make sure I spray off some of the poo that's on the higher leaves. It runs down and the buggy janitors do the rest. The bonus is they also fertilize the soil for the plants.

I would use leaf litter over anything else easy to clean up and gives the clean up crew plenty of places to hide, but yea coco fibre can get awfully messy

+1 on the springtails, you hardly notice them and there great for cleanup.

i actually prefer java moss over sheet moss. mainly because java moss grows fast and i feel its more attractive.

another thing you could do its to use a different substrate. i cant stand eco earth for the same reason. i switched to a mixture i bought from josh's frogs, i forget the name, its very popular. has different mosses and contains carbon chips(which clean as well!)

adam is referring to ABG mix. it drains really well, but i would still cover it with leaf litter or moss.
