I have always wanted an axolotyl and would like some advise on how to care for them before I actually buy one. Any help and advise greatly appreciated
Hi there
Axolotls usually get up to 18 to 12 inches long and best housed alone as juveniles, the minimum size tank for axolotls is 10 gallons
but larger is better, they need many hiding spaces and you can have a bare bottom tank or sand, if you use gravel, theres a risk of
impaction, you can feed them feeder fish (i do not suggest this), redworms bloodworms and earthworms, they require a filter and
low water temps. if you plan to get an axolotl with arms or legs missing, dont worry, they will regenerate and be good as new in
a few months

I currently ave a 40 litre tank will that be ok to start I have seen a bigger tank but can't afford it till I get paid. I would really like a black speckled one. Are they difficult to find
the leusistic ones are more common but im not sure how hard they would be to find, you can ask a local pet store if their supplier carries them ( i meant 8 inches not 18 inches!)
