Hey, so im setting up a new tank and it's going to be quite large, i have been doing as much research as i can to figure out how to make several species happy together, i have been reading a lot and i do see it is not ideal to mix species too much BUT please read this out and give an honest risk assessment for me.
I have a large 67 gallon tank, the water will be about 16 inches deep and im going to have a pair of freshwater archerfish and spotted scats. I have done some research and they should have no interest in the frogs and the filter is more than adequate for the setup so the toxins from the toads should be very minimal. As for terain i am going to have a floating island take about a third of the tank off to one side, and either more small islands or some floating plants, im also going to ensure on the large island i will have a depression where some of the water can poke through as a soaking pool option for them. at the end of it all they will have lots of swimming room, lots of places to climb out of the water and no predation from below.
Next this tank also stretches up into a fairly high enclosure, another 3 feet above water level, this is where my question really is, i was looking into some other arboreal amphibians, ones which are unlikely to ever climb down to the surface level, newts or gecko's or maybe salamanders, still havent picked exact species but the arboreal aspect will be pivotal in the decision, up higher there will also be shelves and pools of their own, all three aspects of the tank, fish, frogs and the above can all be fed independantly without worrying about them chasing each other too much.
I understand there might still be a small ammount of risk, but do you think this could potentially work, i was looking at 2, MAYBE 3 toads max
