Friend Requests - ?

I'm just wondering: Do we get some sort of extra notifications if we're "friends" with someone? Other than being able to view each other's private albums (got that from faq), is there any other benefit? If so, I'm going to be friend requesting quite a few people.

Ok, so no added benefit, but I'm sending out friend requests anyway. I like this better than facebook. Holds my attention longer. And twitter is just stupid. Take that, social networks.

The forum is way better than FB. I still really don't understand twitter. I'm following a bearded dragon forum on twitter and wanted to ask a question but it limits how many characters I type, I like to type A LOT!!!!!

That's my EXACT issue with twitter!! Nothing I want to say fits into 140 characters. FB smartly increased post character limits. I write novels (as posts). Twitter is for "i'm eating pizza #nom" which just isn't my thing at all. I mean I like pizza, but if I tell anyone about it, there's going to be a story behind it.

Was going to ask about this "Friends" forum capability and then noticed your thread. Not into digital social apps (no Tweet's or FB, or any others). I'm kind of amused by all this internet social sharing and how human privacy is going downhill fast. So looking at your original question... no one has answered it. We get a friend request, we answer it, and then what? Maybe it's just a function created by the forum engine. Can ADMIN or any Mods provide more insight into it?
