    Default Tadpoles from last year?

I was out walking the irrigation canal this afternoon and stumbled a cross these massive tadpoles. Interesting being its about 40 degrees out and there is till ice in the canal. They must be left over from last year. Is guess Leopard frogs, or Bullfrogs.

Bullfrogs and Green Frogs are the usual candidates for overwintering as tadpoles if both are in your area. I'm not sure that Leopard frogs usually take more than 1 year to develop, have you seen this happen? I find them hard to ID at this stage.

We had a thaw yesterday and I checked my nearby stream for tadpoles and couldn't find anything moving around yet, but it probably won't be long.

We have bullfrogs (unfortunately as an invasive species) and leopard frogs. I'm going to grab a couple of these and see if I can get them to go through metamorphosis.
