I don't know if this is the right place for this thread or not but I assume it is. If I'm not in the right area please let me know. I have some small trees in my semi-aquatic frog tank and I would like to replant them in soil instead of gravel and moss so I have some potting soil left over frome when I potted a larger tree I bough but couldent use. So heres the question can I use potting soil in my frog terrarium or not I am woried about the chemicals in the soil such as fertilizer, plant food, etc. so if I can't use potting soil are there any good organic soils that would be good with my trees and frogs?
I personally wouldn't use it. I'd be too concerned about the chemicals you mentioned. The few bucks you spend on viv grade substrate will save you and your frog in the long run. I prefer to buy ABG substrate from a terrarium supplier. I personally like New England Herpetoculture LLC - Home and their version of ABG but there are tons of vendors out there. Good luck
Can you get these substrates at petsmart?
Unfortunately I don't believe you can. Most places mix their own and sell it. I'm not sure what product pets art carries that might be safe for your frogs. I would post that very question in the appropriate species section to get an answer from someone familiar with your specific species. Sorry. I wish I could have been more help.
