    Default Mix for Viv Background

    Hey guys and gals!

I am getting closer to the stage where I will actually be putting my new tank together for my WTFs. I have just finished siliconing the two sides of the tank that will have the GS foam background, but before I do anything with it..I would like some input on the substrate that should be used on the background.

Right now I am looking at a bag of Coco Soft with the bigger chunks and the fine Eco Earth. I was thinking about mixing the two together to give the background a little more texture.

Would this be okay for my WTFs?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

It would be just fine. Only problem is the bigger chunks tend to fall off or get pulled off sometimes. a thicker amount of silicone or titebond will help to hold onto the chunkier stuff better. Id say just go with the ecoearth though.

I screen peat moss so that I only use the finer particles on the silicone, makes for better coverage. You could do the same with coco, the screen tops from exo terras and zoo meds are great for this

That's a good idea. If/when I do another build or conversion, I might have to try that. For now I am sticking with a plain Eco Earth background as I am hoping that my plants take over. xD
