What is a good (U.K) brand cleaner safe for frogs antibacterial, and good for just general purpose cleaning of the tank? Or is it just good hot soapy water well washed out?
Thanks Alex
Hi Alex,
Do you want to clean the glass of a tank that has frogs in it already or one that you plan to use for a frog enclosure.
Regardless: never any kind of soap
To sterilize a tank that you are preparing for use:
-very , very diluted chlorine bleach and water solution
-then RINSE RINSE RINSE very thoroughly in de-chlorinated water solution
( the de-chlor solution will help to get rid of any remnants of the bleach.)
I have carried tanks out onto the driveway and let them sit w/ a bleach solution--then scrape/ then RINSE for a few days.
There's always the bath tub![]()
Cleaning the glass of a tank that is inhabited.
I have never used a specific 'product' for this
- I use distilled water and a micro fiber cloth.
-for very stubborn areas ----a new, clean, single edge razor blade will work well
-however, you want to keep the area you are cleaning wet as you don't want the dust
you are scraping to become air-borne.
I hope this answers your question ?
Lynn

To add to Lynn's answer, I have a nice fish tank scraper with a nice long handle. I scrape off the calcium and wipe it out with a damp cloth. Then I wipe the glass off again and dry. I just use warm dechlorinated water. This is for the tanks with frogs in it.
I also use the bleach method for empty tanks.

I'll chime in here. With tanks that have frogs in them, some use fresh cut lemon. I personally use Wipe Out. Razor blade is good for stubborn areas but i never have to go that far as the Wipe Out works for me since i mist with distilled water so any water that does hit the glass never leaves spots anyways. Poop and slime come off easy with wipe out
