Default I think one of my FB's is dieing :(

I have had my 2 firebellie's for 3 months, both of them were thriving. They were eating mill worms and small crickets. Within the last 2-3 weeks one of the FB has slowly started acting strange, not wanting to get in the water, she acts like she is drowning almost struggling to get to the side of the dish. She has not been eating. I have held the mill worms infront of her, over and over. The crickets walk on top of her and she swipes at them. The other FB is huge and brite with color, unfortunatly I have been seeing him sitting ontop of her in the coconut husk they have in their tank. I feel so bad, her color is now lookin like she has a shimmer of blackish eradescant (sp) I have been doing anything and everything (excapt take it to the vet, I can't do that). Should I put her down? She also just falls backwards when standing up against the tank, she is only standing up because I have made her move. HELP

yeah if you frog is a near black color, its really stressed, i would stop feeding millworms and try either redworms or earthworms cut up and place her in a "hospital tank" usually has not as many decorations, higher temps and has a paper towel base, spray the towel daily and use a low rim water dish for the toad, hiding places are nessecary.

    I hope your frog recovers!

I'm really new to FBTs, but here's my two cents: I have a toad that has been acting really lethargic lately. Tonight I gave him a "bath" that consisted of putting him in a Tupperware container with a paper towel that I soaked with water from his tank, some lukewarm dechlorinated water, and a cap full of pedialyte (non-flavored/non-colored). I let him "soak" for about a half hour and then returned him to the tank. It seemed to perk him up a lot, but only time will tell. You might want to try this, since the pedialyte has electrolytes and it may help give your toad strength. I'm worried that my toad may have eaten a piece of gravel and is suffering from an impaction, but he's not bloated so I'm hoping that's not the case and it's just the weather or something (I'm going to the store TOMORROW to buy bigger gravel). Anyways, I hope this helps and I hope both our toads pull through.

On pedialyte: if you use it be sure to dilute it using the correct ratio or it could be too much for the frog. Only unflavored pefialyte should be used with 1:10 mixture of pedialyte to dechlorinated water. I would let mine sit on top of enclosure to warm up a bit.

To alyson On the impaction, alot of members have used a honey and water soak to help the passing. Look around and see if you find the info, it's definitely on here. I will poke around and if I find something I will pm you.

    Good luck guys!

You can add a couple drops of plain natural honey to the pedialyte mix that Lisa has noted for you above. Following the soak with the honey, do a regular dechlorinated lukewarm water soak to remove any honey residue.

Can you post some pictures of him?

The pedialyte is good advice, also do try to steer clear of feeding ur fbts mealworms. Their exoskeleton can be difficult to digest and theyr not that nutritious either.
