Default PLEASE HELP My frog is not eating and is having a weird eye issue

    M31AA,
Sorry I was away, busy week. Lija and Mike are giving you excellent advice. Continue the daily soaks and give the reptaboost daily if he is not eating. I too believe he toxed out from chlorine in the previous water used and think he may also have had some tetany from lack of calcium/vitaD3 from not eating. There are vital nutrients in the reptaboost, including calcium. Hopefully he'll eat again once he's feeling better.
I'm glad you came here when you did. I hope he can pull through for you. You are headed in the right direction and it sounds like he is responding well. I don't have anything else to add at this time. They've got you covered .
Thanks Lija and Mike! And good luck to your baby! I'll be waiting to hear what the vet says.

Thank you everyone! I called the vet's office when they opened this morning, but unfortunately the vet who sees exotics isn't there today. I have an appointment with her tomorrow at 10.

Besides his eye (which looks the same) he is doing a lot better. When I picked him up to change his water, he tried to squirm away, and the same happened when I tried to give him reptaboost. I only got half of it in him because he was so squirmy. I'm just glad he has a little energy and isn't as listless as before! I'm going to try giving him the other half of the reptaboost later this evening because I don't want to stress him out any more.

Hope he continues to improve. That eye infection looks pretty bad, but I think he has a good chance of getting through it once you get the meds from the vet.

I just got back from the vet. She said he has an infected ulcer and there was a ton of bacteria on the slide when she swabbed his eye. She gave me some husbandry tips and antibiotic drops to put on his eye twice a day- Tobramycin opthalmic solution.

I hope Doughnut will continue to get better. Besides the eye, he is doing well today. Thank you all once again for your help!

EDIT: If anyone is dealing with the same thing and is curious, the total for an exam, lab work, and the medication was $116. Definitely worth it.

Sounds like everything is going well! Keep us posted on his eye though, since you caught it so fast and took him to the vet, it's possible he may not lose it, I'm really hoping he doesn't! Regardless, I think he'll turn out to be a fat and happy pacman
