My pacman frog Doughnut is the first frog I've ever had and I think I made some mistakes in taking care of him. At first everything was fine (I got him in November as a baby) and he was eating one or two crickets a day. Then in the last month or two I realized he was eating less and less. I would have to put the cricket close to him and guide it toward him so he'd eat it. I got him a heating pad in addition to his light (making the temperature about 80). It didn't seem to help.
Then recently, he began not eating at all. He started looking smaller. He would only eat when I dangled a cricket in front of him with tweezers, so that's what I did for a few days. He started looking better, until 4 days ago. I was brushing away the substrate near his mouth so I could feed him when out of nowhere he had this seizure. He kept twitching and twitching even more violently until he did this huge inhale and froze (all this time I'm watching in horror). He was all stiff and I thought he was dead. I put him in some water and he sort of "came back to life." Although he still twitches a bit when I try to move him (I touch him as little as possible but I have to when I change his water.) I researched it and it seems like he has/had Toxic Out Syndrome. I followed the directions for treating it and put him in water which I changed often (every 5 hours or so). He still twitches a little (not violently) and has gone stiff once.
Since that episode 4 days ago, he won't eat at all. I got him calcium, but since he won't eat the crickets I sprinkle with it, I have no way to get it into him. I'm going to try mealworms next, but I don't think he'll care... he never had a problem with crickets before.I've got his temperature up to 85-90. His eyes have been closed and he barely responds to anything. I think he is/was in estivation. Tonight, he opened one eye but the other has this weird glassy thing on it (see the picture).
So I have two questions: How can I get him to eat again? What is wrong with his eye?
I love this frog and I will do anything for him to get better because I feel like I've failed him.
EDIT: Oh and I've also switched to purified water in case the tap water is what was making him sick.
