So jealous, it has been so cold here lately that I cannot get anything live shipped to me. We finally broke the cold for 3 days and now another storm around the corner (sigh). I need springtails and have not been able to get any for the last 2 months. Guess I know what I need to start breeding.

I agree with Will. I think it's a personality trait that some will have. I've heard that by placing the viv in a higher traffic area in your home where faces are going to peer in periodically, the frogs will eventually acclimate and go about business as usual. My SIs are in my living room with a cat, 9 year old and a 39 yr old (me) constantly peering in. Initially they hid out and waited for me to leave. Now, both males begin to call and continue with my face nearby. They know good things happen when I get close like misting, fogging or feeding. All three readily come out and hop around exploring surroundings. Dendrobate Auratus is a shyer species than tincs but not necessarily hiders.

I think you're going about your build and frog choices Properly. Letting the plants and microfauna establish is very wise. Also measuring temps and humidity prior to moving the new inhabitants in is a good idea as well. I started my 40 gallon build yesterday. I promise to start a thread with plenty of pictures. I plan on completing the build before months end, but have no intentions on moving any PDFs in until about June. I'm planning on clipping a couple of plants from my other viv. I'll let ya know how that goes.

Ty yet again Ed for your info

Everything I've read said to set everything up first so that's what I'm doing

I look forward to seeing your build as you go!
