    Default Ruth laid eggs!

My ACF decided to lay eggs today. I was so shocked! She is about a year and a half old and has just been growing like crazy since I got her (I want to get her a bigger tank as soon as we move out of our apartment, but she is ok for now). There is no male, so they can't be fertilized...unless she found a way to mate with the chinese algae eater...

I was walking by this morning and noticed all these wierd white things on the plant--at firt I thought something horrible had happened, like a wierd disease or something (and then I started checking for body parts to make sure she and the algae fish were both ok). Then I realized what I was looking at and started to notice them EVERYWHERE! They are all over the plants and just littering the ground (coated in sand). There are just SO SO many of them! I am really glad they are not fertilized--I have no idea what I would do with so many tadpoles.

As I was taking these pictures, she laid some more right in front of me...then started enjoying some of the older ones. I guss she is having a good day (yuck). My algae fish also likes to sneak out and steal some of her bloodworms from time to time, so I'm assuming he will be eating a bunch of these as well.

I guess I'll give it a day and then clean up whatever is left.

Some ghost shrimp will help clean up the eggs as well as make a nice snack when she comes across them

You should be able too, they are super cheap as well, used as feeders mostly
