I would remove the gravel, those will eventually become an unwanted treat for your new guy/girl resulting often with impaction.

I see one stripe in the middle of the back. Does that mean this is a dwarf?

    Yeah....

Well when not even feeding ours, when one gets excited and starts stirring up dirt in it's waterbowl then eating it. Personally watching ours defecate then by the movement of it's own waste enticing it to eat it. If there were to be gravel, i'm sure some would be consumed.

I didn't take it as rude at all, just trying to help. I've read tons of posts with people having problems with gravel, which typically results in impaction. Welcome to the forums, there's still lots for ALL of us to learn.

just the way you worded it made it sound like you thought i was being rude sorry for the misunderstanding i will probably just keep a close eye on him considering he is very well fed and this is only his second day in his new home

Gravel equals impaction.....equals dead frog....don't be dumb.

Now see? That was worded with a flavor of rudeness. Weather it comes across as rude or not, its 100% true.

You've been given great advice in the spirit of caring for your new friend. Don't screw over your frog for the sake of being stubborn, for lack of a better term.

On top of the impaction risk, you will have a hell of a time cleaning when the frog gets some size to it.

DeeBub is right, no matter whether he states it in a rude way or not.

The fact is that if you wish to be safe, and not risk the death of your frog, then you must remove the gravel. Impaction is a major threat to frogs kept in unsafe environments or fed unsafe foods, and has caused the deaths of many loved pets. Please, do not let that happen to your frog.

And I agree, cleaning gravel can be a real pain.

I love DeeGrub and DeeChub the most I'm thinking those names should go to two big, fat, and grumpy African bullfrogs

lol, Deedub as always on a point! but i kinda like deechub name better, no offense0

anyhow, Anna, i'm glad you took the gravel out, you can put some stones it if you want, the bigger ones that any size of a frog can't swallow.
and by the way your frog is absolutely adorable!
Save one animal and it doesn't change the world, but it surely changes the world for that one animal!

Try a 60 W "red bulb" from your LPS. You can get a small light fixture from lowes, homedepot, or even walmart for about 8 bucks (the one that has a clamp for it and says max wattage 75). We suspend ours about 5-6 inches over the tank and the temp sits at 83-87 F. You can also use a UTH (under tank heater) and secure it to the side of your tank for extra heat.

Caspian and DeeDub please remain on topic for the sake of the OP.

Also DeeDub no name calling! No matter if you disagree with the OP having gravel that was uncalled for.

    Thank you
