    Default Staple diet

    Hi there,

I was just wondering what would be a good staple diet (except crickets, as they got out and hopped around my room. It is so hard trying to catch the little buggers. My pacman is still young around 4-6 months i think. I have read that they cant digest mealworms well, and having wax worms and night crawlers could be too fatty. So in basic i would like to know if there is a good staple food for my frog that wont jump around like crazy E.G locust / crickets

Night Crawlers are not fatty. They are the perfect staple for your frog. Next best is Dubia Roaches.

I would suggest dubia. Get a nice colony started and feed them like you would feed your children
Also vary from time to time.

I agree almost any type of roach will work. The easiest to find is dubia. lobster roaches also are easy to culture and they reproduce very fast. Hissers are very large and would work great when your frog becomes an adult good thing about these is they come in all sizes. Dubia are the cheapest and super easy to culture. earthworms are great and if i had the means to culture them i would. however they take a very long time to culture and can be very difficult from what i have read. But if you find a way to culture them successfully i would love some tips.

You have to be careful on them they are fatty. I don't agree with that statement for reptiles yes frogs and amphibians no, in many smaller reptiles (beardies, Leo's, Chinese water dragons etcetera) Earthworms cause neurological problems this is not the case in monitors tegus and amphibians the calciumhosphorus ration in earths is very close to Phoenix worms without all the fat

Btw Phoenix worms are a maggot
