Hi there
I think the reason why your frog isnt growing is because it's either a subspecies of pixie frog (possibly tanzanian) if thats not the case, how often are you feeding him? usually pixie frog froglets eat every day and have verocious appetites. if none of these are the case, i would messgae some of the other pixie owners, i personally dont own any african bullfrogs but this may help
Hope the problem is solved!![]()
"A Righteous man cares for his animals" - Proverbs 12:10
1.0.0 Correlophus cilliatus
2.1.0 Bombina orientalis
0.1.0 Ambystoma mexicanum
0.0.1 Ceratophrys cranwelli
1.0.0 Litoria caerulea
1.1.0 Dendrobates auratus "Nicaraguan"
0.0.2 Dendrobates tinctorius "Azureus"
he eats regularly thats why im so confused
What are you feeding them and how much do they eat at a time? What is the humidity and temperature in your enclosure(s)?
I believe we replied to your same question in your previous threads![]()
Save one animal and it doesn't change the world, but it surely changes the world for that one animal!
I know what you mean (lija) but i cant get any of that food around me. I can onky feed him crickets and mealworms basically. I have been just noticing that put pting in a bunch of crickets in his tank and leaving them there is working. He just takes time to eat. But hes still not growing.
I don't know what the rest of you all think, but there is something about the overall shape of this frog, mainly the head, that just seems, different... But I cannot place my finger on exactly what. Maybe it's the angle it was taken? If not this may be a subspecies or perhaps a genetic flaw that causes this giant to have stunted growth? Maybe like a dwarf giant? Lol!
+ 1 from me Bruce (edit:I called Bruce bob...sorry Bruce lol). Those were my thoughts almost to a tea. Philippe document in his book giant African bullfrogs that's only reached total length of a few inches. It was 100 percent genetics and the Frog did not last very long.
AB, your frog looks healthy. Just enjoy him

I have been measuring him these are the results
Day 1 (jan 4 2013): 6.4 cm
Day 8 ( jan 12 2013): 6.4-6.5 cm
Day 25 (jan 29 2013): 6.8 cm
Day30 (feb 3 2013): 6.98cm
Day 39 ( feb12 2013): 6.98cm
It's hard to tell from the picture what color the back and side stripes are, but they look tan. That, along with the white tympanum mark, this distance between the eyes and tympanum, and no horizontal bars on the eyes, it looks like a dwarf subspecies.
Its not ill show you more pics later
It cant be a dwarf
I'll show Philippe these images and ask what he thinks it is.
Ok thanks
What did you end up doing with the female you picked up?
Im still negotiating with the people i got it from they keep saying its a male because it has yellow on it but i keep saying both males and females have it. So they have no idea about what they are talking about
Wow, what service. Are they that hard up for a sale they have to argue about it's gender and a refund? You should have your parents get involved, since it seems they are not taking you seriously.
Ya I know
mate your female is nice.. if id live near you man id buy it off ya no worries there.
