The little Rana's are growing up

I love Ranids Gnag has already grown a lot since I first got her, as well as Bumpy.

Tell me, what's a good tank size for an single, adult Rana Aurora [Red-legged frog] ?

It depends if it's a male or female. For a female a 30 gallon long tank is absolutely minimum. They need a fair bit of floor space to walk around on and enough vertical space to jump safely. We use a ~30 gal exo terra long I believe, but I may be wrong. I've only heard her hit the ceiling once and she was particularly jumpy that day.

I would make sure they have enough room to swim and enough places to hop onto. A 30 gallon seems small but I've set it up in a way that allows her to utilize a lot of vertical space. She tends to pick a few spots and stick to them, even when I had her in a larger enclosure.

I would recommend a 50 gallon long if you want your frog to be super happy, Hopsin seems to be doing fine in her 30 gal (or I would put her in a larger one right away) but she can cross the entire tank in a single hop if she wants to. She dwarfs the tank she is in, but she also doesn't appear to be stressed (except for when we change things) because she sticks to a half dozen spots.

A big swimming area is vital, for now I'm using the largest water dish possible but our tank is in dire need of a false bottom with a deep swimming area. You also want to be sure to have a shallow section of the swimming area, as I find she enjoys basking under the light half submerged more than anything (as you can see in these pictures).



Greenery of some sort is very needed in this tank right now
