Yes, we drink our water. We pay a premium for our spring water up here in our mountain-side little town. Our water definitely doesn't come from a treatment plant. It is some of the best water you will ever taste. We are getting him into the hospital tank right now.

Oh good ! About the water and the hospital tank.
    Sorry for the confusion.
I was thinking about this : (" 5) Spring water from our faucet, but could have been contaminated")

    Please keep me posted.

It's really busy here today, would it be possible to post/reply here again when you find out what he says ; then PM me when you are able to make the reply. As we are all anxious to hear!

    Thanks, Lynn

Dr. Frye said that is sounds like a systemic bacterial infection in his lungs and skin and recommended the medicines, however I am not able to order it because I did not receive my paycheck today and will not until Wednesday now. I found a local vet that can see him tomorrow, but I don't even have the money for that visit either. :-\ I just don't know what to do now...

It will likely be half the expense to order from Dr.Frye, if your funds are low. Could someone perhaps loan you a few dollars until payday?

It would be best to get the meds started as soon as possible. Breathing is our top priority.

I'm hoping you can find a way. Will send blessings for your baby to pull through.

Well good news. Got his medications ordered that Dr. Frye recommended. They will be here tomorrow. I just took the hit on my bank account because I love my little frog so much. He deserves a fighting chance. In the mean time, I gave him some Reptaboost since he still hasn't eaten anything and have been giving him the pedialyte and honey baths, which purk him up a bit then he goes back to sleep. The humidity in his hospital tank has been sitting at 60% humidity with a temperature of 70. We are trying to keep the humidity down so as not to aggravate the lung infection anymore than it already is. This has definitely been a huge learning experience for me and now I know that high humidity is what caused all of this in the first place. I thought that he needed a higher humidity since we live in a climate where average humidity is around 20%. Thank you all very much for you help through all of this. I am so glad I came across this forum. It has been the best forum I have ever been a part of already since I joined Sunday night. You all are the best. :-)

glad to hear the little one is doing well. as i was reading this, i saw the spring water from the faucet mentioned, and then i saw Nevada. my first thought was hard water from the canyon area, but then you mentioned mountain town. so glad you got in touch with Dr. Frye, he is the best although, i am still wondering about the 3 metal bars in the enclosure?? metal is an unbelievable breeding ground for all types of bacteria. i definitely would not put those back in.

you definitely had the best of the best in here helping you. Lynn is awesome and Heather is ehhh....she's Heather....LOL really, i learned a LOT from these 2 ladies. get to know them well. they are a valuable resource of info

Hi Kristen. I too had this same problem with my frog! Straight down to the clicking, not eating and picking up his seemingly lifeless body. I wanted to let you know too that while it is possible that it was your enclosure..i wanted to ask you where you got your frog from? I got mine from Petco and when I took my little guy to the vet..they said that..was likely the reason. Its been 4 days since we started medicine and hes doing MUCH better. Don't give up! My guy is tiny too which is why I wanted to give him a chance and I couldnt watch him suffer. It is doable..keep your head up! crossing my fingers!

I did get him from Petco. We got him at the beginning of January. Glad to hear that yours is doing better. I'm just antsy to get the medicine. I'm always checking him like a small child.

On a side note. I didn't have to overdraft my bank account to get the medicine. Like right after I ordered the meds, my fiance received his tax return so I was able to get the money into my account right away to cover the costs. What a godsend that was. He wasn't supposed to receive that check until next month.

Just out of curiosity, what kind of medicine did your vet give you? Dr. Frye prescribed Metronidizole and Baytril antibiotics. I just want to make sure I'm getting all the right stuff for him.

I hope my little frog hangs in there today. He was barely moving today. I told him to hang in there a little while longer, that I would be home with his medicine this evening. It was so hard to leave him to go to work.

Well the medicine won't be here until the morning. So just need to get him through this evening. My fiance was able to check in on him during a break from work and said that he was okay. That he was still breathing and stuff. So that's good. I seriously thought he was a goner the way he was acting this morning. I usually don't get my hopes up to much, but I have high hopes that we will see him through this. Before I just liked frogs, but never thought about owning one. Now I love frogs! Especially my little Smillie. I think the honey and pedialyte baths are really helping to get him through until the meds arrive. He purks up when he is in them. And the Reptaboost is helping since he still isn't eating. Although, the one cricket we put in there last night, wasn't there this morning. So he could have maybe eaten it? We don't know for sure.
