Exclamation Asian Flying Tree Frog - Need Advice on Potential Illness!

hello, we currently have a female asian flying tree frog with some eye trouble...

A couple of days ago we noticed she had a lump of soil trapped inbetween her eye and upper eyelid, and it now looks a little swollen and red where the soil is stuck. A part of the soil chunk sticks out of her eye when she is sleeping, and most of it is sticking out while shes awake and active.

She is still as active and eating as she was before, and it doesnt seem to be affecting her actual eyeball (it doesnt LOOK infected or damaged, anyway!) but it looks a little red and painful, and we're not sure what to do.

its difficult to assess properly as she is nocturnal and doesnt like light shining on her, and has never really been handled for more than a few seconds.

we have cleaned out her tank and tried spraying some water on it to rinse it over, in the hope that she would knock it out in her pool or soften it to make it fall out but its still there.

we're wondering whether to try and pull the soil out ourselves with some tweezers, or to take her to a reptile vet.

any advice would be much appreciated!

Anything around the eye is difficult to handle on your own. You could try a cotton swap that has been dipped in dechlorinated tap water and gently attempt to brush it away from the eye. If you don't feel comfortable doing this ot cannot remove the debris then you will need a Herp Vet to do it for you.

    Best of luck.
