I took a couple quick shots of our Aurita today. It's colors are already changing, although the full affect doesn't show through in pictures. S/he is doing great! It has eaten every night since we've had it. Usually 2-3 nightcrawler chunks. Pops his/her head out of the burrow about the same time every night, eats some worms, then burrows right back down. It is already a spoiled little grump!
It's already getting some pretty impressive horns too!
Awesome frog!!!!! They are on my list of "must have someday" frogs!!!
I love the horns!
Love the coloring, i can only imagine how much better they look in real life

Cool frog
Now we're talking! She is even more beautiful then in her baby's pics! For some reason I can't stop referring at it as a girl, I wonder who it actually is.
Save one animal and it doesn't change the world, but it surely changes the world for that one animal!
Beautiful grif!
Very nice frog. You are truly a brave soul to buy such an expensive frog as a baby.
awesome frog Grif, s/he has some wicked colours
I'm pretty good at caring for babies. I already have this little one tong trained and it loves chuncks of night crawler. I've purchased most of my frogs as babies and have raised them up. There are only three that were not babies when I bought them. One was a sub adult Sam Blue male, juvinile male Blue Line Ornate, and juvinile female brown cranwelli.
It may be a risk, but I'm confident in my keeping of these frogs and I've always wanted a C. aurita just couldn't find one. I asked Mike to search for me and as soon as he located some he gave me the heads up. It was like fate because I placed the order and the temps here jumped into the 60°s for 3 days and it arrived in perfect health. Buying and keeping onenof these is far less risky than keeping a baby C. cornuta, but I'm up for that challenge too.
I'm pretty sure if there would be a list of people who can keep a baby frog alive and thriving, Grif(s) would be pretty high on that list.

That's so great that it's tong trained! It's nothing against Grif or anybody, it's just that frogs tend to, well, die for no reason when they're babies. That's why $400 is basically an unheard of amount for a baby frog, but in the snake or lizard world, that's fairly routine.
Also it does definitely seem like it's much hardier than a cornuta, which is definitely an awesome sign for the future of these frogs in the trade.
Indeed! Once a couple other breeders and myself begin to up the numbers available to the public in the US then we may see cost per little one drop, but that could take a few years since Brazil has outlawed the exportation of their animals. We may not see much new WC blood introduced to this line. Well at least not leagally.
Minhacao of Anphibios Argentina a member here on the forum breeds C. aurita and may import to the US in the future. Would be nice to get my hands on an F1 aurita whether it be male or female
I'm sure the price drop will happen just as suddenly as caatinga, that drop came out of nowhere.
I'm familiar with Minhacao, he was on fat frogs forums (my primary forum) for a while. I only wish he posted more often! F1 aurita would be amazing, it seems like an extremely variable species, every example I've seen is different from the next.
I wanna see it when its an adult. Make it grow faster Jarrod! I heard that's possible recently.
