I have a male western toad that I have had since he was a tadpole. Today I found a female western toad while gardening. My male is almost 2 years old. This female is slightly smaller than him. Can I put these 2 together after I quarentine the new female? Also I do not want them to breed - what precautions in the enclsoure can I place so that the two can just hang out together and not lay eggs? Thanks for any advice!
You should quarantine her for at least 30 days. Are you sure it's a female? Females are usually larger than males, so it could be a young toad from last year. If it is a female the only way to keep them from breeding is to keep them separated.

You do not need to do anything to prevent them from breeding. I've been trying to breed toads for a couple years now and have never been successful. Your toads will not breed.
