Okay, well, I have one sick baby on my hands.
Very much like our friend Gail, who also purchased baby white's from a petco (many states apart), my baby has very runny stools with a foul odor.
Could this have come from the breeder? How do we find out who distributed the white's across the country to petco's?
Awaiting Dr. Frye's reply, and will let you all know the treatment plan.
And, I'm afraid that though the frog is in 'quarantine,' she is in the same room as my other frogs (big mistake?), and because I wasn't the most contentious about sanitizing my hands in between washing water bowls, I may have also infected my healthy red-eye and healthy adult white's
Hopefully I can stop this before it gets worse, and yes, I will be spending my weekend sanitizing enclosures... yay

Well hopefully you caught it early and the Vet might want to treat all amphibians. So far mine are doing ok, eat like hogs, moving around at night, and going through sheds with no problems. I'm going to weigh them tonight before they eat. Keep this updated. I'm curious to see what Dr Frye's says. Did you send him a fecal?

Hi gail, I just replied to the PM...
How did you collect the runny stool? I'm having a hard time figuring out how to do that, and awaiting Dr. Frye's guidance on how to do so...
I believe that these frogs were shipped to PetCo infected, even though PetCo may have their own issues... It's too strange that we're both experiencing the same thing, don't you think?

Hi guys. I have become pretty close with the girls at the Petco here in Erie. They do buy in bulk and then ship them out in small groups. It is cheaper that way. It is a possibility they could have come from the same place.
Bolisnide, I would recommend treating them all, especially with the Panacur I'm sure he will prescribe. Keep some gloves handy. Start with the non-infected tanks with chores. Change gloves and wash hands between each tank.
I hope he pulls through for you.
It seems all four of us have been through this care pattern. We are here for you for any support you may need.

Buy in bulk, paper towel, latex gloves, and I recommend buy a steam cleaner. I can clean and sterilize the tank, water dish, branch and plastic plants, along with their "holding" container in an hour. It took me forever doing it by having to heat up water.
I put the fecal, a.k.a. slim on plastic wrap. The Vet I'm using didn't do a float, just looked through the microscope.

I hope your little guy pulls through. All of my White's were from Petco and I had the pleasure of treating all of them for parasites. It's not fun but hopefully you've caught it in time and can get the necessary meds.

Hello,
The little one is eating, thank goodness.
I have heard back from Dr. Frye; he suggested I just get as much of the slimy stool as possible and send to him ASAP. He wants to test all my frogs.
Unfortunately because Mon is a holiday, and Dr. Frye is closed on Weds, he will need to test on Thurs. So hopefully the baby can make it another week.
I have totally amped up my cleaning processes, by wearing gloves and washing hands in between enclosure chores, and am in the process of cleaning out tanks.
My husband bought an entire case of paper towels from Sam's club, and a case of gloves for me.
So, will do my best until I get the right meds. and will certainly keep everyone posted.
I am also going to email PetCo (someone up top) when I get the test results back. I think they should know that they are selling sick frogs. And just saaw on another post that these may be wild caught frogs.
I am going to fight for the little frogs, and hope that PetCo listens. It is just completely unacceptable to sell these frogs without enough info to those buying them, and then with the frogs being so sick, they are surely dying.

Hi,
The frog (I think a she?), eats and acts completely normally, which is great!
She has *very* runny and slimy goo coming out, instead of the solid poo I'm used to seeing with my other (hopefully healthy still?) adult male white's. So, she is definitely very sick.
I make sure she is hydrated and well fed, dusting w/ calcium and vits. *Calcium every feeding, and Vit once/week (by itself). I offer food every night, she is so tiny. Being a jewish mother, when someone is feeling sick, we feed them! If they eat, then everything will be okay.
Dr. Frye will test all of my frog's stool, and we will probably need to treat all of the frogs (even though they are in different enclosures).
***Lesson learned: Quarantine really means *quarantine*.
I should have had her in a separate room, and used gloves between enclosure chores, using a new pair each time.
On a side, but very important note-
I again visited my local PetCo, and again asked if they could get confirmation on whether thes guys are wc or cb, and still no answer.
I am determined to find out, who wants to join me?

I posted this on ther FB page, will most likely get deleted.
Whites Tree Frogs from PetCo, W/C or C/B? There are several of us on frog forum that have purchased baby WTFs over the past few months that have ended up with very sick babies. NC to NM, what gives??

Add me to the list of sick babies from Petco.![]()
I already have medications ordered from Dr. Frye. It's frustrating, they show symptoms just after the agreement with Petco is up so the store is not responsible for the vet bill. Oh well, I love my babies.
