It is not recommended that species be mixed. They carry different protective secretions that can be harmful to each other in smaller spaces (ie not in the wild). American bullfrogs are aggressive eaters and will eat anything they can fit into their mouths. Mine can grab up two large adult dubia roaches at the same time without difficulty. They have been known to eat mice and birds in the wild, snakes, other frogs, fish, etc. My recommendation is that if you'd like to get both, have two separate tanks. It is even recommended that you house adult bullfrogs separately, unless both are females and of the same size. American bullfrogs get big and as an adult need a minimum of a 55 gallon tank. Just things to think about. My male is not even full grown and could easily move into a 100 gallon tank soon.
