Alright so! New tank setup!
18x18x24. I had no idea this was going to be so big. It's like.. 50 gallons? ANYWAYS.
Coconut Fiber on the bottom. A little bit of that moss stuff on the bottom left about 1/8th of the setup.
Some broad leaf hanging plants with suction cups. A log thing. A little stump with mushrooms on it (It's not real). Water dish that I'll probably upgrade in size eventually.
The thermometer currently reads 70 degrees and the hydrometer reads 81-82.
I know I need to get the heat up and get the moisture down a little bit.
In the water dish and in the water I used to moisten the soil I used reptisafe water conditioner.
I also rinsed off everything before I put it in the tank.
I just put a heating lamp on the top that I have been using for one of my Leopard Geckos. It's a red bulb 45 or 55 watt.
The bulb obviously isn't working very well or fast because it has not changed the temperature in there.
So what watt and what king of bulb should I use.
Also, I just put in another whites and it's about half the size of my other one and I don't know if the bigger one is gonna eat them smaller one. Let me know please!
Thank you so much!
Hi there
So far so good!, if i were to add anything i would add a backround to make the froggy feel more secure (you can just use black paper but, its your choice) and by the looks of it, i think when the frog gets bigger, he may be to heavy for those leaves! for a stronger plant i would suggest Bird's nest fern and/or Calathea plants, but if you cant find any, i would just choose the ones with the leaves that seem the strongest for a tropical plant.
Have fun with your frogs![]()
I'm not quite sure how I feel about live plants quite yet as I'm totally new with most reptiles let alone frogs. And I only have two Leos and a Tarantula so they aren't in any need of plants at all really.
I'll keep an eye out for some heavier leafed plastic plants and maybe some that are on the ground and not only on the sides of the tank. I have a background that came on the inside of the tank but it's paper so I'll tape it to the back on the outsize to make them feel more comfortable. Also, does anyone know the max amount of frogs I should have in here? 3-4?
Hi again
If your looking for large plastic plants, i would look into the Exo terra smart plants they stay on the ground and come as bromeleads and large broad leaf plants. for an 18x18x24, its about thirty gallons so i would keep a maximum of two whites tree frogs in there.
Okay! Next time I go to a pet store ands I'm now weeping over my wallet ill grab one or two! I'm surprised at how much room they need lol.
I just saw this post here! I posted something on your other thread in the enclosure forum. Live plants are great because they increase humidity and are more natural looking. And they're actually cheaper than fake plants. Go figure. WTFs get between 3 and 5 inches so they definitely need the space!
Looks pretty good, much better... maybe some more broad leaved plants (artificial or real), and some sort of background on three sides.
Otherwise, a great improvement![]()

1.0.0 Red Eyed Leaf Frog
It's coming along nicely. I too would say 2 wtf for this size tank as they are going to grow. A nice tall brach for climbing would also make them happy. They will perch and sleep on it. If you do, be sure to rinse it well and bake it in the oven at 200'F for 30 minutes to kill off any insects. Covering the back and two glass sides will make them feel secure. You can start with the background and see if they eat for you. If not, try covering the sides too. The bulb should be a 50watt bulb. You could also try a ceramic heat emitter of you need the heat for night time.

They are both eating very well and both of them have pooped. I've seen the bigger one in the water but not the little one yet. All I do is stare at them right now lol.
Also I wad wondering if anyone could give me a rough estimate on their ages.from their length. Bigger one is about 1 1/2-3/4th inches long and the smaller one is about 3/4-1 inch.
I'm glad they're eating for you. It's sounds like they're learning their way around. I'm sure the little one will make his way to the soaking bowl too. Hmmm, I'm not good at guessing ages in whites, but I'm sure someone will hop in to answer for you.

Thanks! Also, I realize it's not the recommended way but how do you guys think they would do with a constant 45watt red lamp on? It keeps the viv about 80 in warm places and 75 in others. And its red so....?
