Alright, so today, my friend was out in his backyard taking a look for newts, as they usually come out at this time of the year. He found one newt, and oddly enough, a frog! This is the second time he's found a frog in his yard, and not only does he rarely see them, but most strange is that almost all frogs are hibernating in my area. It wasn't moving much, neither responding. However, it's become more active since, and my friend has set up a crude 10 Gallon tank setup for it. He's immediately contacted me, as he has lots of experience with newts but not frogs. He's also sent me some pictures, and I'm heading to his house tomorrow. Before then, though, we'd like to know what species it is as soon as possible. I'm thinking it's either a Red Legged frog (Rana aurora) or a Pacific Chorus frog.
My friend is assuming it's a red legged frog (Rana aurora) but I'm doubting it due to it's coloration. Anyone know for sure?
You can see the Red legs here, but it's coloration resembles more of a Pacific Chorus frog.

Looks like a boreal chorus frog, very unusual because they are native to northeastern British columbia

Very unusual. This is quite a find. Do you know of any caresheets for the frog or caresheets for a similar frog?
Actually, I'm congratulating my friend on this find. This is incredible!

Seems more likely both would be Pacific Chorus Frogs.
Here's a Key to identifying BC frogs:
B.C. Frogwatch Program – Environment – Province of British Columbia
To ID a Pacific Chorus Frog vs Boreal, the Pacific has a larger toe pad and the dark stripe through the eye stops at the shoulder. On the Boreal, the stripe through the eye goes down to the groin. The range map is also well out of your area as mentioned.
Care sheet Frog Forum - Pacific Chorus Frog
My friend sees lots of frogs such as the one he caught, and similar ones to the picture I posted. Unfortunately, before he asked me, he'd only been able to identify the newts.
I might persuade him to make Frog Forum account soon, if he's going to keep Levi. Also, his experience with Northwestern Newts could be useful to the Forum.
One concern of mine is Levi's Red legs in the second picture. Is that normal in Chorus frogs, or a sign of disease?
I'll try to ID Levi with the pictures I have right now.
