Thread: False and true

    Default False and true

What exactly are false tomato frogs? I don't really see much off a difference between the two. If someone can point out the differences and show photos of the two species that would be nice. Are false tomato frogs cheaper in price at all, because i all thinking about getting a tomato frog and i do not want to be scammed a tomato frig price when it might be a false one (if they are actually cheaper if course.)

    Any information is appreciated,

Thank you for your time and consideration.

If I am correct I think it is nearly impossible to obtain "true" tomato frogs, because they are on the CITES Endangered Species list. So you wouldn't have to worry about being scammed because no one really sells them anyway. True tomato frogs are Dyscophus antongilii and false tomato frogs are Dyscophus guineti. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but they are both species of tomato frogs, so the false tomato frog isn't really "false"?

Dyscophus guineti is the most common, right? And then I heard there's also Dyscophus insularis, which is less common in the trade because it's more of a brown color, but that's all I know of.

I actually like the look of false tomatoes better than regular.

Soli and Poison pretty much got you covered. Color is the real difference between the three species. There are some slight structural differences, but they're minimal.
