Hi guys,
Well, we lost both of our new RETFs within two weeks. You can read about our experience here:
http://www.frogforum.net/tree-frogs/...ast-night.html
First, THANK YOU again for all of your advice and support over the past several days. My family and I are grateful to those of you who have responded, helped, and encouraged us.
We would like some of you that have kept these guys before to help us "start over." If you were in our situation and wanted to try again, what would you do? My first question is: Is the RETF too delicate of a species for beginners? (we've read mixed answers on this question). We are not strangers to more challenging pets (we have two saltwater reef tanks), but frogs are new to us.
So... where would you go from here?
Hi aaapalmer ,
I really want to respond to you; but I have go to work.
All I have time for right now............. is to say---- your love for these frogs should be your reason to try again.
If I can........so can you !!!!
We will all look at things very carefully and help you get going once again ! Frogs need us!
Our efforts are valuable-- it's more than what meets the eye !
In the meantime focus on a good breeder; we will have lots of suggestions and sterilize the enclosure.
Lynn

Hi,
Long day , sorry for the delay!
First of all ---you are so welcome for all the help you have been give here on FF , I'm so very sorry you lost both !
It's just terrible.
I don't think you did anything wrong. I still think you were likely sold sick frogs.
We'll never know ?
So my opinion is that same as it was when I replied to your first thread.
The use of RO water did not cause the demise of these 2 frogs in a matter of 2 weeks.
I would report this to the person you purchase the frogs form . They should know.
I would NOT, personally, however purchase from them again. I truly believe, breeders don't intentionally sell sick frogs.
I good breeder would want to know as it will alert them to address any possible issues w/ other frogs still in their possession.

Hi ,
So sorry
Try not to put any blame on yourself.
Heather has given you great instruction as to how to proceed from here
I believe this frog was sick when you got it ! I would ask for a refund.
Perhaps the injury on the foot was very small at the time and went un-noticed.
The only thing I'm not sure about is the "prime". Not sure meaning - I have no experience with it ---for its use with frogs.
(Aquariums - yes but not frogs)
May I respectfully suggest
"Aquatize"
Exo Terra : Aquatize / Terrarium Water Conditioner
8 little drops/gallon immediately de-chlorinates tap water.
Save your RO for cleaning the glass and misting the plants and helping to maintain the humidity

Please post questions regarding your plans moving forward.
Disinfection of the old tank is very, very important. ( as mention in the previous posts)
I consider tossing any left over plastic plants.
You should create quarantine set-up(s) for your new frogs ( any species) for a minimum of 30 days.
This will give you time to get the other tank ready for after the quarantine period.
Go for it !!!!I'm sorry you had such a terrible experience

The company we purchased from is offering to replace the frogs. Should we do that or try to find a good breeder? I'm fairly certain these were wild caught.
Hi! I would just ask for a refund and look for a reputable breeder. That way you know you'll be starting off right.
