    Default I got another frog.

Really pretty albino, however, the store that I got it from was rather lacking in their care for the frogs. It was in a very small container relative to its size and the substrate seemed to be topsoil from out side. Right now I have him in a 51qt steralite tub with 2 uth on the side and a 50w light above. his temp tops out about ~81 in the day and ~74-76 at night. I have yet to feed him and it seems he may have an impaction as well. I have done the honey soak, he is soaking right now as a matter of fact. When I checked on him he seemed to be breathing at a rather fast pace. He is active, to an extent, i mean these frogs are not marathon runners.

My question is how many honey soaks should I do before I offer food to him? I have had him about a week now.

    Thanks in advance.

Post some decent pics of the frog.

Heavy breathing means s/he is scared. Are you sure the frog is impacted?

When it comes to impaction there are steps that must be taken and #1 is don't feed the frog anything solid until it passes the blockaged or else you will just make it worse. Keep performing the honey baths to assist in passing the blockage.

If you worry about the frog becoming weak from not recieveing nourishment then force feed it Repta-Boost. Since this supplement is a liquid it can help in passing the blockage. I will also suggest seeing a Vet for an Oral Laxative if the impaction does not pass within a couple of days because you do not know how long the frog has been impacted.

i'd say rule nr.1 is not to panic sometimes the best you can do is nothing, meaning provide proper conditions, let it be and keep an eye on him.
first of all - what size is the bottom of your tub? what is the substrate? what makes you think a frog may be impacted?
Save one animal and it doesn't change the world, but it surely changes the world for that one animal!

its about the same with as a 15G tank. and as long as a 20G. You can fit a standard 10g tank in the tub. He/she is on cocofiber (eco earth) and I have been keeping an eye on it. But I have been keeping my distance as well. What concerns me is that it seems to have a hard lump on the right side. I felt it as soon as I lifted it out of its container and placed it in the tub. I am not at all paniced, not nearly as bad as I was with my first one. I soaked him for 15 min the other night and placed him in his water dish after he instantly jumped out and burrowed, I thought nothing of it and changed his water. Today how ever I soaked him for 15min and then placed him in his water dish and he is still there I can only assume he is trying to poop. He is doing things that look similar to bearing down so we shall see.

    Keep us posted.

There is a med called Cisapride that works fairly well with assisting them in passing a blockage. A Vet may also give the frog Mineral Oil.

Unfortunately I lack the funds for a Vet trip. So honey soaks will have to suffice in the mean time. Like I said he is active and lumbers around his tub when he feels the need, I always find several burrows everyday so I know he is moving around.
