    Default Bullfrog calls

Do female bullfrogs call or is it just males? I have a dwarf african bullfrog and have heard it calling loudly.

    Hi there frogguy,

From what I have read, Yes the females croak but its not as intense as the Males croaking. To tell the Male from the female in a Bull frog the Male ear is larger than the eye and the Females is about the same size as the eye. Also the Male has a yellowish/gray throat. Hope this helps.

I'm guessing you thought he meant something other than an African Bullfrog?

What does the croak sound like? The only sounds females make are release calls and hissing (when they release a lot of air after blowing up a bit).

In Dwarf African Bullfrogs, both sexes can have yellow throats. The easiest way to sex it is to post a photo here please.

Ebony, I had feeling you were talking about Lithobates catesbeianus.
