Hi all,
We've had our two RETFs for about a week now. Both have seemed to adjust to the new environment and are active at night, eating, and soaking in the water dish. Today, we noticed one (I think female) peeing while in the "sleeping position." Later, there appeared to be what looked like a bit of blood near her rear. Then, she opened her eyes (much earlier than normal... it wasn't dark and quiet in the house yet) and began what looked like yawning while this slimey stuff was coming off of her.
Is this what they call sloughing or shedding?
Anyway, she's finally settled down and is back in the sleeping position with her eyes closed. Her skin now looks very dark with a few lighter green-colored patches.
We're still pretty new to frog-keeping. Can someone help us to know what we might be observing? Any concern?
Thanks
Sounds like shedding. I freaked out the first time I saw it too.
