Update... I took him to the vet.... The veterinarian an expert on exotic pets said he appeared to be in good condition. He used a tongue depresser to open his mouth and then got his finger stuck in his mouth when the frog bit down. Unfortunately I could not afford all of the tests he wanted to run on him. He is being tested for Chytrid fungus and I was given an antibiotic regiment to be delivered via syringe injection twice daily.
Chytridiomycosis is usually treated with a bath in an itraconazole solution, not antibiotics. The vet may be treating for a bacterial infection.
The vet is treating for a bacterial infection... because it most likely is... The test for Chytrid is a precaution.
Hi, How's your Pyxie doing today?
He looks so much better! I think he is going to be fine... I will no longer be feeding him crickets. The vet told me they are terrible... Carriers of disease and lack proper nutrition. I am switching to roaches. I will also be offering more rodents. He is 7" and weighs almost 1 pound.
