Hey guys, I want to know the best way to clean my pacman's tank. I would like to trim some of my plants and replace some of the old eco earth. I know its going to need a wipe down inside the enclosure, but what can I use? I have read that people are using lemon juice and water. would this be ok? Also, I have been picky on upgrading his/her water dish and would like to know if this would work. Thanks

i use wipeout 1 from zoomed but i take everything out of the cage spray wait 5 mins then wipe down. I dont know if it would be safe to spray it all over your, im assuming, live plants and substrate as it needs to dry and ventilate properly before putting ur frog back in. the water dish should be fine if to be extra careful you could boil the dish in hot water or maybe even bake it in the oven at a low temp for a while just in case there is some sort of bacteria on it
water dish would work, i have those in almost all my tanks, i like that you can go with any size fits your frog, it is perfect size/amount of water balance.
as for the rest, you need to clean not part of your substrate but all of it once a month! and stir it at least once a week.
so that is how I do it:
-place a frog in a bath with warm dechlorinated water
- take everything out of the tank, substrate to the garbage, decor - rinse with very hot water.
- prepare a new exo earth, while it is expanding, wipe everything inside the tank with just water, then wipe out by zoomed ( or lately I use veterinary grade disinfectant), when done, I spray with some water and scrape all water residue from the glass, then i use terrarium cleaner by Zilla , it gives very clean finish to a glass and some resistance for future water residue, after everything is done, i put substrate, decor ( exactly the way it was before) and place a very happy frog ( cos she LOVES her bath) in her water dish and close the doors.
- repeat with next tank lol and then the next one... and so on and that is how I spend one day a month.unfortunately only one my frog is happy with the whole thing, all the rest hate every minute of their bath.
that is my terrarium cleaner, love it!

Save one animal and it doesn't change the world, but it surely changes the world for that one animal!
Lija has you covered.
Thanks, for the quick feedback guys.
If you are trying to clean the tank and not removing the furniture, substrate, and water source then you are running the risk of poisoning the frog. The fumes are even toxic. You need to read the instructions on the bottle. This is not a cleaner designed for spot cleaning. It is for actual strip down full cleaning.
If you've been cleaning using Wipe Out 1 while everything is still in the tank including the frog stop immediately. You are going to kill the frog. It should be treated like the 10% bleach solution used by many to disinfect their tanks during full cleaning.
I would go even further and say that almost all disinfectants can't be used for spot cleaning. ABSOLUTELY none can be used if the frog is in the enclosure. There just a few that are not toxic and don't need rinsing afterwards, in that case after the fumes are gone it is safe to put everything in in theory. I'm using one of those now, available only through vet clinic, but even then I'd rather rinse it.

Hey guys, my planning on cleaning the enclosure today, Would it be ok to take him/her out when under the dirt? Or would it cause to much stress?
just be gentle and he will be fine.

One more question, Will warm natural spring water work to soak in?
yes it is ok, but I personally prefer to use treated tap water.

All nice and clean. Thanks for the help.![]()
what about virosan ? would it be safe for a frog ?

I'm wanting to know if its safe to use to clean the enclosure . I keep my frogs in a sterlite rack along with a few of my snakes . Its an old homemade rack made from mdf with contact paper covering the top of the mdf . Heated with heat tape on a thermostat . I've been using a diluted bleach solution and letting the tubs air dry to clean but I think the virosan would be safer vets use it as a mouth wash and i think you could drink the stuff and it wouldn't hurt you but I'm not going to swear to that.
You probably could, but I would rinse out the tubs really well before returning the animals. You may place it in a misting bottle and mist lightly in the tubs and let it stand for a few minutes before wiping it out and then rinsing. You don't want any residue left behind.
