Greens behind the background

Hi all

My American green tree frog got behind the Exo terra background, I got it out but since my viv is planted it would be a nightmare to take everything out in order to silicone the gaps. Would it be fine to take the greens out and silicone it with everything like plants still in the tank and just leave it for a few days?

Hey man hows it going? IMO I think your idea would be fine, when you get to the bottom just push the dirt away from the bottom of the wall abit so it doesn't touch and I think you would be good. That way your just moveing abit soil instead of like you said ripping the whole thing apart, that's a nightmare. Its more the fumes while curing that's really dangerous and if your going to give a few days the smell should be gone. I think the worst thing that could happen as while your applying it some of it falls or something, but even then if hits the ground if you pick it up right away with the dirt its sitting on not allowing it to absorb in at all again I think you would good. Or if it lands on a leaf you could just trim the plant removeing that piece it fell on. All in all others may have another opinion but I think you would be good, and for sure if your going to give it 72 hrs to cure before introducing them back into it.

Hey Cory, good yourself? Thanks for commenting, I think I might just go ahead and do it then and leave it for a few days. I cba taking the thing apart, lil **** had to go behind the background! I swear there's like the tiniest gap ever at the side of the background, probably so it fits in the tank but I mean it's hardly a gap, so just going to silicone around the edges, anywhere the frog possibly can fit through. Was gonna use coco panels instead of the ET backgrounds but I must say they really like to climb on them.

The fumes from silicone will take it's toll on any plants in the tank and it will hit them hard. I would either yank the background or remove all the plants from the tank before using silicone.

Thanks, would be easier to take the plants out. Either that or I was thinking of just leaving it next time to itself to get out, I'd imagine it probably could if it can get in

Thank you Bill for stating that, I knew the fumes were strong but didn't think they would be strong enough to kill the plants. Now I know for the future if I run into the same problem or something similar. That's one thing I like about this forum, you can always learn something new. I was going to mention to Jason to PM you last night since your the Viv wizard of the forum because I knew you would know the answer, it just kind of slipped my mind while replying. So thanks again Bill and I hope everything works out for ya Jason and that the little bugger doesn't end up going back there on you again.
