After going over my tank and noticing some shed skin laying on plants (bad sign since my ACF always eat their skin) I decided to remove a suspect driftwood piece from my tank. It was purchased from an aquarium on craigslist and was used in a piranha tank for years and I left it out for the summer to dry out before adding it to my tank but......

It's soft and squishy, kind of smells like pond water and it was growing some rather blue/green looking algae (or cynobacteria..) on it. I believe it was rotting and irritating my frogs skin. They are very hungry and active frogs otherwise, but the shedding was bothering me a lot.

It looked very nice in the tank but if it's going to cause water condition problems, it has to go -- so it's gone.

Hopefully that was the cause and that resolves my problem.
