What would we do without you GrifTheGreat!
When all else fails you save the dayIf only I followed what I saw on youtube i'd have a 100lb pyxie
You know you really need to add a pyxie to your collection Sir/Ma'am
But back to the OP, you need to follow the caresheet and takes Grifs advice.
So your saying that my frog will never get to be the size of real normal pixie frogs? Thats rediculous I bought it for when hes older hes huge this is total bull I have done everything the way I am supposed too and yet hes a midgit at 5 months
nobody was saying that, if he is a male he will get bigger unless something will stunt his growth, say mine is a bit over 4" at 9 month. he is small and will probably be never as big as average male, but I love him the samegenetics of course has influence too as well the fact that they all grow at differently. to add to this- I'm pretty sure you have a female,.
If I were you I would take the advice given and change completely his tank ASAP, meaning proper substrate and water bowl. that would be a first step. then you need to make sure temps and humidity stay at proper levels. then start feeding properly, I would go for everyday feeding and as much as he would eat for now and see how it'll go. You never mentioned if you are using Ca/vit3 supplements, you have to use it every second feeding and once a week multivitamins. It is crucial at his stage of development to get proper nutrition and supplements. Use only de-chlorinated water.
follow the advice on feeding more nutritional food then crickets, but keep in mind variety is important too, you can give once in a while hormworms, butter worms, wax worms, pinkie ( no more then once a month), but as a staple - nightcrawlers and roaches.
Save one animal and it doesn't change the world, but it surely changes the world for that one animal!
Many things can cause a frog to be stunted, but there is always a chance to spark a growth spurt in your frog. Possible causes of stunting will include; Poor genetics, improper climate conditions, improper nutrition(lack of proper supplementation included), and of course stress.
We can not know for sure that your frog will not reach full potential because some are just late bloomers so don't get all disappointed yet. Females normally only reach 5" to 6" SVL and may grow slowly until reaching this size.
Just follow the advice given and don't fret. Everything can still work out for you. Be patient.
I'm never on YouTube yo collect info. Many people on there aren't following correct care or feeding methods, but there are many that do. I do watch videos on there occationally hoping to see some new videos and I love to see other people's frogs.
In the future I'll get myself a Pyxi, but it may be a while. I already have 12 mouths to feed![]()
looks a little bit like a female to me
