Boy or Girl

Hi this is my bud Grubs, I have had him since october of this year so for about 5 months and his diet is crickets, worms, a mouse here and there. He also eats a wide variety of things for example he ate a fish yesterday, a grass hopper in november, a Shrimp, Krill and much more My only problem is I know he is still small to tell but what do you think he or she is a boy? or girl? Thanks

what is it weird looking thing that tank is lined with? carpet? the bowl is not good either, they have to have an easy access to water, edges on yours are too high.
a frog is definitely looks too small even for a female, but there is nothing to compare really, how big is she?

Wow, that substrate looks abrasive, you need to either use moist paper towels or get some eco earth bedding. Looks like a light colored edulis.

I've seen a lot of people use carpet on youtube etc.. is it wet? and what are the benefits?

My dad said it is well first off easier to clean and second he says that the bowl is fine for his age now and it's Defeniently a adspersus and is it really too small? How I feed him a ton and how long will it take him to get bigger

I feed him or her about once or twice a week and yes I do put the vitamins on the crickets and if I don't use a dog bowl what else should I use for his water? The temperature in his tank is about 75-80 degrees. Why is it so small?

they all grow at different rates. and Dwarfs simply do not have those nice green stripes on the back. I have 5 Adspersus and they looked almost exactly like this at that age

Wait thats what they looked like at 5 months? I don't know why mine takes so long to grow it eats fine.

because you are feeding it less. it could be female or just growing a different rate. stress will also slow growth. a damp paper towel at the proper temp written above would help. a good mix of safe earth worms dubia roaches and small mice now and again it's what I feed all of mine

The substrate is perfectly fine as long as it is kept clean and there is nothing to be ingested. Frogs that are kept on non-burrowing substrates also grow faster, as they are never hiding where they can't see food. Your frog just needs a water bowl it can more easily get into. A lot of these frogs simply do not have the genetics to get huge. Phillipe de Vosjoli has pictures of multiple-years-old frogs that are barely larger than a quarter. I honestly cannot tell what gender this frog is, size wants me to say female, but it does have some male traits.

This is also very true as each individual frog even of the same species can differ greatly.

You definitely need to fix a few problems. You need at least 3" of coconut fiber substrate(not husk) and you can place it over top the terrarium carpet so that when the frog burrows down it isn't sitting directly on the glass. The water dish must be changed to one with much easier access and I know for a fact that with a setup like you have now the humidity is far below acceptable levels

Your frog should be fed cansiderably more food and should be offered food everyday to every other day for optimum growth and nutrition. Use Night Crawlers as a staple rather than crickets. They are far more nutritious and more easily digested. Don't stop offering crickets though because a varied diet is key to having a large healthy Pyxi. Your frog is both stressed and a little on the small size. I am actually surprised that it is still eating, but then again Pyxi Frogs have a large appetite and can be pretty adaptable.

Make the necessary changes and you should see a change in growth and appetite.
