i wouldn't do it. most day geckos are from the madagascar region. from what i understand, quite a few in the pet trade come from florida. both are sub-tropical regions, while red eyes are from a tropical region, mostly costa rica. they are 2 totally different climates, so their care won't be the same. one would most likely suffer. not to mention the fact that they are diurnal AND arboreal. they will be scooting all around the tank and possibly close to the red eyes. that could really stress them out. why not go for something that is diurnal and terrestrial, if you insist on doing multispecies

Thanks Bill, Any suggestions in the diurnal and terrestrial area? with my tank being turned on end there isn't much "land" for terrestrial habitat.

    Hi Tyler,
    I didn't realize you had a third!
    Your project looks fun.
As you know, Red Eyed Tree frogs don't need much room on 'the bottom'. They don't even like the bottom
Have you thought about installing a very shallow water area on the bottom.
It could be drilled to drain out the back? Filling the shallow water area on the bottom could be accomplished by the misting system and adding additional de-chlor water.
Bowl feeding would have to be well established and could be suspended for feeding?
A mixed environment is very difficult. I would seriously consider the best additional herp to be .............other red eyed tree frogs!

Thanks Lynn, I already drilled the bottom to be a complete drain. Didn't want to tear down if a pump failed. And I did the suggested space math and came up with a possible 10-11red eyes that could live in this thing. Bowl feeding is already implemented on my frogies.

Maybe someone who keeps larger groups of Red eyes can answer this. Do they start to sing more when kept in larger groups. My boys do call occasionally every hour of so. But I wouldn't mind more without the use of a rain chamber.

    Hi,
When my red eyed tree frog enclosure is quite( I have 4) ; It's a heads-up for me.
The happier they are ---the more they call.
It's like a built in 'red eyed' alarm.
I hear hours of calling in the warmer weather when I'm able to leave a fan on for increased ventilation.

again, Gena won't be deterred from finding some other species to keep with the Red eyes and has at least started looking at better matches. Her hopes are now set on an Albino Red Eye, I told her yes. Black Eyed Tree frog ( I'm not sure) and Glass Frogs (again, not sure)
