it looks like my guy is getting red leg? his tummy is turning oragne near the vent... what should i do. i keep the tank super clean and feed him right...
Hi there
yep, those are the signs of red leg. what type of frog is it? i dont know of any cures or remedies for red leg but i would go to a vet listed under "EXOTIC" in the phonebooks
Hope your frog gets better![]()
red eyed. i cleaned his cage good and "soaked" him in warm water. the color change started yesterday im hopein its just stress cuz he is in a new cage (much bigger) and that now he has a green anole to run around on him when hes sleeping.
the color looks so be fadding a tad from the soak... hopeing its just me being paranoid. my babies havent been introed to him yet and im hopeing that the fact they r in the old tank doesnt put them at risk... i just spent an hour cleaning it to be sure there clean
Its great that he's in quarantine, i think it may be stress if you had recently got him.
I would make sure that the anole and the frog get along first.
Hello,
What species of frog do you have? Please post a photo if possible.
Red eyed tree frogs can get an orange tinge in this area that comes and goes between soaks and sheds.
Is your frog acting ill? ( a sick frog is lethargic ( lazy ) and typically will not eat). Has its behavior changed in any way that worries you.....eating, pooping, sleeping etc.
My favorite red leg essay. RedLeg

sence ive gotten him about a month ago he hasent been one to eat much (i was told adults dont always eat much) but the crickets would get eatten and he poops regularly. as far as lazy im not sure how active they should be sence im sleeping when hes up... he would "call" more like one clicky thing now and then threwout the night, now in the bigger tank he doesnt.
and the anole tends to just chace the crickets around and leave him be unless spooked then runs whatever way he so wishes...
and i forget what the dots are called but from what ive read they should go with the next shed sence i take good care of him

Hi,
No disrespect.
This is likely the cause of the problem w/ your red eyed tree frog.
A red eyed tree frog should, absolutely, not be housed with an anole.
Red eyeds are very shy and stress easily. They should be separated.
The anole will stress him even to the point of not eating causing your frog to become ill. Plus your frog could end up with a bite
In general, one should be very, very experienced if keeping a community vivarium. Most experts say..... maybe not even then ....or simply.... NO !
Many things can go wrong.

I am thinking he is stressed. I too think it's from living with your lizard. I would recommend housing them separately. It looks as if he is upset. Sometimes when red eyes are upset, angry, or stressed their bellies turn a pinkish-yellow. Usually right before they pee on their predators. I think if you separate them they will both be happier. Keep am eye on him though to be sure his belly fades back to white. Pink/red discolorations are often illness related. If he is otherwise eating, pooping and alert/active at night then I think it is stress. Stress can quickly lead to illness. Give him a nice peaceful home with lots of nice branches and leaves to climb and the proper house temp and humidity and he should start to relax. Also cover the back and 2 sides of the tank with backgrounds to make him feel safe.
Keep us posted. I'm hoping this helps. If not, be aware that you may need further assistance such as a vet.
