Okay my pacman frog eep is like crying and jumping to get out of his tank... I took him out and sat him on the floor. he hopped once and is sitting there what should I do??!![]()
Update: Right now he is jumping around the room. Do you think it could be because he is caged up all the time?
What are the Temps? Have you read the thread trouble in the enclosure? Was this activity at night? If so, these frogs are nocturnal animals and they will be very active at night.
Put him BACK in his tank!
You should NEVER let your frog "jump around your room". It is extremely dangerous and stressful to him. He absorbs everything through his skin, so unless your floor is immaculate, you are exposing him to MANY dangers.
Chances are, there's something off with your husbandry rather than him feeling cooped up "because he is caged up all the time", as you put it. These frogs feel secure in confined spaces. They do not need much space. In fact, excess space can stress these frogs out quite a bit.
So please, either put him back in his tank, or set up something safe and temporary for him while you figure out what the problem is. Please, never let him just wander around on your floor.
Don't put him on the floor! He's absorbing everything you track into your house on your shoes and what not. Did you use dechlorinated water to prepare everything in the tank? Answer the trouble in the enclosure questionshttp://www.frogforum.net/showthread.php?t=14721 and post them back here so we can get an idea of what's wrong.
If you want to let your frog out of his enclose to exercise buy a big plastic bin and put some dechlorinated water in it with paper towel down on the floor and let him hop around in there for a little bit

I agree my pacman frog once absorbed paint in his body and he died after a few days ( it was an escape). do not let it out or else it will happen like mine and he will absorb toxins in your room, if you want it to stop hopping,
then give him a better tank right?
Loganste, you can't be serious. you asked just yesterday about a frog roaming around
in yours situation, i know it has been 7 hours since your post, BUT you have do him unflavoured pedyalite bath ( 1:10 ratio) to help remove everything he might have absorbed. while doing so please as you were advised answer trouble in the enclosure questions here.
Save one animal and it doesn't change the world, but it surely changes the world for that one animal!
You have been given good advice. Don't let him out on the floor. Give him the bath - as Lija instructed - to wash off anything that might have gotten on him. I should also mention that they can get dehydrated fairly quickly sitting out on a dry floor.
Behavior like this is caused by stress. You need to figure out ASAP what is causing the frog to be stressed. Please answer the "Trouble in the Enclosure" questions and post the answers here. I will add that the most common reason they throw fits like this is usually right after they have had a big stinky bowel movement. The substrate being too wet or too old is also a common cause. These frogs can be very sensitive to changes in their environment and get stressed easily. Prolonged stress often causes them to stop eating. Also, if he keeps jumping to get out, he could injure himself - from tank rub to more serious injury. Find the cause of the stress. Please keep us posted.
