Default Thinking of a new project - clearing the clutter

So I have an old console TV. I have found that I cannot even give the thing away (sat in the driveway with a sign that said free for 2 days). So I am thinking about making my own trash, my own treasure. I am thinking about gutting it and turning it into a terrarium. I had a little fun with photoshop to get an idea of what it might look like. I am not sure how easy it will be and I will have to see how much space I have after I gut every thing but here is what I envision it looking like in the end. The Terrarium picture that I photoshopped into the TV was from Lynn's Auratus enclosure (Thanks Lynn), but it looked really nice so I thought it might better help showcase my idea.

Has anyone attempted anything like this? Looking for thoughts and comments.
    Thank you all!

I think that is a very cool idea. One drawback for me would be how low to the ground it is.

Definitely a very cool idea, but i agree, too low. But i do have bad knees and a bad back, so getting up from looking at it would be painful.....lol

Wow, Way to put a kabosh on things. That is Why I posted this on here. Now that you mention it being that low and only viewable head on it may be a pain and not real practical. Looks like that big ole TV is going to get a ride to the dump after all. Bummer, It was cool on paper.

Now on to seeing if my old entertainment center has a possible Viv vibe going on. I am bound and determined to find a way to find uncommon project.

    Thanks for the feedback guys!

oh, you want uncommon?? here are 2 ideas i have been playing with, but probably won't ever get around to doing. 1 is one of those big a$$ed bubble gum machines. i see them on craigslist all the time, but the people want way to much money. another thought i had (which involves a LOT of work). a glass front, commercial refrigerator. ya know, like the kind they have soda in at the convenience store? now THEY would be uncommon!!

Now you are going above and beyond. I am not the skilled pro you are, I am still taking baby steps.

Those ideas do sound cool however. I would love to see them if you ever get around to bringing either of them from paper to reality!

Pretty neat! Not too low for terrestrial frogs .

Gut the tv, get a tank with sliding front doors and put it in through the back. The access wouldn't be horrible and a ground dwelling species like Heather suggests would be nice. Or you could have side access if you were set on having the front one clean piece of glass, but you'd need to cut away part of the stand.

These stands are usually sturdy, so a big treefrog vivarium on top could round it off. It would be extra awesome if you could wire the buttons up to control lights, misters, or heaters.

There was a fridge like Bill mentioned on kijiji near me a few weeks ago. I wanted it to convert to a big treefrog vivarium, but just don't have the room and would have been in big trouble if I tossed out our kitchen fridge to make space for a vivarium. It has awesome potential though.

If you're looking for different projects, I've started stuffing plants into smaller glass enclosures, like fish bowls, empty maple syrup jugs, etc. Removing the frog requirement (is this blasphemous to suggest?) and just focusing on plants, your terrarium options open up considerably.

Brian brings up an excellent point. Remove the frogs from the equation and possibilities open up everywhere! Heck, i have pothos growing out of the filters on some of my fish tanks. I even have it growing out of my 75. Lol apothecary jars make awesome terrariums. I have even.seen mini terrariums in scotch glasses. You talk about cool.
