Talking Leptopelis uluguruensis! My Dream Frog!

I found some of these for sale again and had to snap them up even if they were on the expensive side! Yes they are wild caught imports. As far as I know, no one has ever bred them in captivity. I am getting a male and female pair. Never hurt to try for captive babies right? Even if they don't breed (which I highly doubt they will) I am just so happy to have them. They should be here on Tuesday so I thought I should warn you for pictures galore! I just wish I had more money so I could have gotten four frogs instead of two.

I like this species too, as I do most of the frogs from Africa! The top photo is a male, note the sky blue throat. They are named for the Uluguru Mountains in south central Tanzania. It is a medium sized treefrog (42 mm males, 59 mm females).

In their native Africa, during the dry season they often are found in a comatose condition sitting on a large leaf on a tree at an edge of a stream. Their legs placed under their body and eyes closed.

I'm a little peeved as they are supposed to be a pair. However I've read males have blue throats other places too and it appears both my frogs are male. The place I got them is sold out so no chance of an exchange. Anyone have a female they'd like to get rid of let me know lol.

Here they are sleeping. It's kind of funny. As soon as the sun starts coming up around 5:00am (it's still dark outside to me) they fall asleep.

I'll try to get pictures of both of their throats. One has a darker throat than the other (the more mottled looking one). The blue goes all the way down to his chest. The greener one has blue just around the jaw line and it's not as dark as the other frogs.

It's hard to get pictures of these guys because they like to jump onto my camera lol.

Hopefully you have a pair! I would like for you to be able to breed them! They are too cute

It's a terrible picture. But I think you can see what I mean by one frog having more blue than the other. Though I think they are both male.

Do females get blue on the throat too?
