    Question Dusting crickets: Picky frogs?

I am curious; does anyone else have difficulty with feeding calcium dusted crickets to your frogs? My frogs almost always either ignore them or don't eat them.

Also, does anyone have a tips or suggestions for feeding calcium-dusted crickets to frogs?

Lastly, are American Bullfrogs a species that relies on calcium-dusted crickets, or are they simply a supplement to their health?

    Hi there
ive never had difficulty feeding dusted crickets but if you are having difficulty, i would simply gut load the crickets
with Flukers cricket diet (only $4.99 at petsmart) and fresh veggies. For the bullfrogs, the crickets are simply a supplement, i would do the
same and gut load the crickets and if they are too small, i would try cockroaches.

    Good luck feeding your frogs!

I feed my crickets wet lettuce/salad and oat bran, with the occasional carrot, cucumber, fruit, or piece of bread [Though I rarely use bread due to how fast mold sets in on it]. Would you consider this "gutloading" crickets? As for the cockroaches, I don't know any place that would sell them, and I doubt my parents would even consider having cockroaches in the house. However, Earthworms will soon be part of their diet, or at least Gnag's, as Gnag is a much heavier eater than Bumpy, and also a bit bigger than her, too.

I know of many pet stores, but I'll search for a Petsmart nearby. I do know where a Petland, Mr pets, Bosley's pet food plus, and Pet Habitat are. As for the Petsmart, when I find it, I will buy a Flukers cricket diet as soon as possible.

    Thanks, I appreciate it
