i have 2 fire bellies and they are constantly going at it the male barks and trys to mount almost all day long it wasnt really a problem and she never gets bullied from food. But more recently ive noticed him keeping her out of the water and everytime she moves to try and get back in he barks at her and if she gets close enough he amplexus her until she makes the unmount call. My question is could this pose a problem long term? i think it might be that i changed the position of all the trees well i do that every time i clean but this time i put her favorite plant far away from land and she cant get to it to hide from him. im thinking of changing my setup so theres more water area and less land for him to keep her on and maybe add another one of the trees she likes cause he is to big to sit in it the leaves bend and he falls off so its perfect for her since she is light enough to sit on the top without the plant giving way. If anyone could shed some light on this that would be great.
heres a pick of eduardo guarding his water from bellini![]()
Hi there
The problem is that the make thinks its still the breeding season, He's not nessecarally bullying but he's trying to mate with her. i would raise the water temp
by 5degrees and if this dosent solve the problem, i would suggest putting her in another enclosure.
Good luck with your frogs!
Ya ive only had um for a few months ima let the seasons change before i separate um. Honestly i dont think its a problem as long as she not getting bullied from food and at least hits the water a few times a day???
i would blend the water and land better so there isnt a huge line of stones like that and lower the water level, they get hornier with more water lol![]()
