But maybe a little too well, I just added two new fire-bellies to my 10g setup so my first frog could have some company, and within minutes he's already trying to lock up with what I assume is the female. Is that normal?

Though his barking and trlling is pretty cute.

very normal especially with lots of water but be careful cause if this is all they r trying to do they may stop eating and r more likely to hurt each other
they r usually fine but if they get too out of hand lower the water level by an inch or so
