Hi there,
I have 2 whites tree frogs. The smaller one has an injury to its leg.
I have no idea how it happened, but it looks like the skin has been pushed back and has dried.
I have no idea what caused it. I have a reptile radiator that has a cover on it, so there is pretty much no chance the frog could have held the leg against that.
The cage is large, sterile and at about 50% humidity.
The two frogs spend all day and night "cuddled" up together and so I wonder if the one frog has been lying on the other ones leg?
I have looked at the leg again and it is not septic, or wet at all. The wound looks dry and almost scabbed over. It doesn't look like a fresh wound. So I wonder how long the frog has had the injury. I don't handle them every day. But I clean the cage and spray and feed with locusts 4 times a week.
The cage has kitchen towel substrate. Is 2x2x2 foot. So overcrowding didn't cause this?
It is a real mystery and also really sad, as I love my beautiful little guys!
Does anyone know what this could be from, or how to treat it???
Thanks!!!![]()
Ok, panic averted! It was some nasty shed that had stuck around the leg! So the frog had a little bath and now all is better! It came away easily and the leg is fine!!!
Phew!!!
keep that humidity up.
Thanks, Ive had them for about 3 years, so it was a bit of a surprise. But they've had a good spray now and Ill keep an eye on that shed from now on.
Is the skin underneath all of good color and integrity?

Hi, yes, it is perfect! The dry shed was probably only on for a day or two. It came off really easily. I didn't even think of the shed issue. I was so freaked by the "scab". Thanks for all the help and concern! I have my gorgeous shiny froggy back to normal now. What a relief!
Yay!!!![]()
