I'm very new to owning a red eyed tree frog and want to go about it the right way and have to learn the hard way. I feel I have everything set up correctly......except I don't understand what kind of lighting or heat to use? I have been on every web site and at the pet store and get all different kind of stories. Do you use a basking light for the heat? Because I can not get the temps in my tank up high enough to help with humidity?

    Thank you,
    Linda

And that's why he's a reptile guy and not a frog guy. I've never used a UVB light for an amphibian.

Heat lamps are alright provided you use an appropriate power one for the terrarium, and maintain the correct temperature and humidity. I personally never use a heat lamp though - I would go for a heat mat on the side of the terrarium or for a normal incandescent light bulb (or both).

This is were I'm having my problems! Lots of different answers! I finally found a reptile ,Amphibian store! Not many left these days. I got the heater for the bottom.....I did have a bulb that kept the temps around 80 so it wasn't going to dry them out I don't think. But to be safe took care of all of that. I appreciate any info you can give on taking care of these guys. They are awesome and I have learned a lot in the past three weeks since I posted my question.
I have two frogs and have added plants now and would love to go bigger with lots of plants but want to wait and make sure I can handle this first.

    Thanks for your help!

I've closed the comments section because people are using it to post questions about the frogs, rather than comment on the article. If you want to ask questions about Red-Eyed Leaf Frogs, please use the Tree Frog discussion area.
