    Default 36" tall exo terra

I'm looking at the 24x18x36" tall on amazon, it only has 2 reviews. Does anyone have one of these that can comment, I'm concerned about the strength of it at that height. Or if you have any 36" tall viv, is that a good height? I'm debating on that or the 24x18x24" for 4 white's.

    Hi Michelle,

This is a great tank ! I wouldn't buy the 24 "H for a Whites if I had the choice and could get the 36"H.

I have 5 exos for 5 different species of frogs.
My 2 larger are for 2 different species of Agalychnis.
24W.18deep.36H (for the black eyeds ) the other 36W.18.36H (for the red eyeds )

My other 3 are all 24H used for 3 different dart species of which have had quite a bit of modification ( drilled for drainage and the screen has been replaced with glass )

These are constructed very well! You will not be sorry.

They have screen tops. You will have to cover the majority of this to keep the humidity where it needs to be.
These are large tanks-----keeping them warm (for me ..... anyway.....they are in my basement) can be a bit of a struggle during the winter months? The summer on the other hand is no problem.

Having helped carry some of these into the house, my concern would be the shipping? It could be very damaged if not crated !
I guess, this is the shippers problem , though. I'm so surprised you can't find a shop that carries them, or can order it for you?

Also, these are very heavy. You will need two strong 'guys' to carry this !
The shipping is likely going to be very costly?

When one purchases these at a retail store.......the tops and bottoms are covered with heavy cardboard, then the cardboard is strapped together , around the entire enclosure. The glass is covered with only with plastic wrap.

The glass is exposed when you look at them at a store. Question how they are going to be crated for shipping?

Have you checked out Exo-Terra's site. Perhaps they list 'recommended' online suppliers?

BTW - The big box pet stores carry these. I have gotten 2 really good buys during a sale.

Let me know how you make out !

PM me..anytime w/ a link back to this thread. A link back is really the best way .......so that other members can benefit from OUR experience and discussions.

There's always a gamble ordering stuff like this online and not being able to inspect it.

I have the 18x18x24 for my 3 whites. I ordered it from Amazon because the stores near me didn't have this tank and I don't drive so I didn't have anyway to get it home if they did. It's a great tank and my frogs are very happy in it, I had just very minor issues. I did Super Saver Shipping so it took almost 2 weeks to get it but shipping was free. It was delivered by a shipping company and the guys were very nice, even asked if they could see my frogs! The tank itself was in the normal Exo-Tera packaging and it was inside another box with styrofoam protecting the corners. The tank had a very, very small chip on the door that couldn't have been caused by shipping because it is on the INSIDE. It bothers me to see it but it's not sharp so the frogs won't hurt themselves plus I paid like $115 total for it and free shipping which would have cost an extra $26!

As for the tank itself it's well made and with multiple frogs in one tank it's a MUST to have two doors. I had a 12x12x18 and the frogs would sit have way on the door and the glass so I could never open it!

Thank you both! I'm actually not concerned about the shipping because I have prime and it will be free, and if it's damaged amazon can keep shipping replacements until we get a good one. I don't really have the option of purchasing locally, I live in a small town and they don't carry these big tanks, besides amazon is cheaper. I was more concerned about the really tall glass doors on those little hinges but if you have 2 of them and like them Lynn, I will take your word they are good tanks .
Lynn, what do you use to keep your tank warm? Mine will be in the living room so I only need to heat it less than 10 degrees above room temperature. I already have the infra red hood lamp, and was thinking about putting a UTH or two on the back behind the background. Will that work?
I'm going to build in a false bottom, and am trying to decide if I want to start out with a pond type feature in a corner with some filtration. Is that complicated to run? Otherwise I will stick with the daily changes of the water bowl. I already have the mist king ordered and on the way, will arrive next Friday.
    Any other advice is appreciated.
